The Nigerian Navy has handed over a suspected militant collaborator to the DSS after his arrest in the Calabar waterways. The suspect is believed to have maintained contact with militant groups and facilitated the disposal of stolen goods.

Four councillors in Akpabuyo were suspended for alleged cultism and violence, including an attack on the council leader and staff that resulted in injuries and property damage.
10 December 2023 · Kidnapping
The traditional ruler of Akpabuyo was abducted by gunmen at his residence, during which an aide was shot dead while attempting to prevent the kidnapping. The area has seen a rise in abductions recently.
14 November 2023 · Terrorism
Troops of Operation UDO KA neutralised six criminals and apprehended 14 suspected IPOB/ESN elements while rescuing two kidnapped hostages in Akpabuyo, Cross River. The operation resulted in the recovery of various firearms and other items.

Eyo Etim allegedly abducted and murdered a victim, dumping the body in a septic tank in Offiong Ambai community. Maurice Ibangha was also arrested for attempting to kidnap his boss.

Gunmen kidnapped four individuals in Calabar, Cross River State, with incidents occurring over several days. The police have arrested 10 suspects linked to the kidnappings.
2 August 2020 · Communal violence
Suspected cultists clashed in the Forestry area of Akpabuyo LGA, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and significant property damage. The conflict involved two rival groups, Skylo and Scorpion, and has led to a deserted area as local businesses closed.
