Delta State Police arrested eight suspects in separate operations between July 10 and July 14, 2026, including alleged armed robbers linked to a gang operating in Okpanam and Asaba, a suspected gunrunner, and a suspected Eiye Confraternity member. Police recovered four locally made firearms, four live cartridges, one expended cartridge, and a dagger knife across the operations.

A 31-year-old hunter was ambushed and shot by unidentified gunmen on the main street of Ovwodokpokpor-Olomu Community in Ughelli South LGA, Delta State, on June 30, 2026, while returning from a hunting expedition with fellow hunters. He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Udu LGA but later died from his injuries, prompting his family to formally petition the DPO in Otu-Jeremi demanding an impartial investigation and justice.
