Two additional suspects were arrested in connection with the abduction and assault of the Chairman of Ikere-West Local Council Development Area in Ekiti State. The police had previously arrested three suspects related to the same incident.
3 June 2026 · Kidnapping
On June 3, 2026, armed men abducted the Ekiti West LCDA Chairman and another individual in Ikere-Ekiti. The police have arrested three suspects linked to the incident and are investigating further.
13 December 2023 · Armed robbery
A bank robbery in Ikere-Ekiti resulted in three feared dead as armed robbers attacked Wema Bank and Access Bank, using dynamite and firearms. The robbers operated freely for several minutes before escaping with a large sum of money.
17 November 2022 · Scam/fraud
Five suspected fraudsters were arrested in Ikere-Ekiti for defrauding a farmer of over N2.5 million. The suspects were apprehended in their shrine where they used deceptive practices to scam victims.

A cleric was found dead in his car along the Igbara Odo – Ikere Ekiti Road after allegedly being shot by unknown gunmen while returning from a trip. Family members organized a search party after he failed to return home as expected.
17 October 2020 · Protest
On October 17, 2020, a group of hoodlums attacked the Ikere Police Division in Ekiti State, damaging the building and four vehicles. The incident occurred during the #EndSARS protests, leading to further vandalism and looting in the area.
29 May 2020 · Armed robbery
A 78-year-old widow was murdered by suspected ritualists in Ikere-Ekiti, with her vital organs removed and her body dumped in a stream. The police have begun an investigation into the incident.
