A factional leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress and two members were kidnapped by terrorists while attempting to deliver a ransom in Oko Irese, Kwara State. The leader was reportedly unaware that the victim they intended to rescue had already been killed by the abductors.

A 16-year-old girl in Kwara State alleged that she was tortured and unlawfully detained by police while they searched for her fugitive brother. The police have denied the allegations, stating that due process was followed.
