A 17-year-old boy was abducted in the early hours of Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Aladere Village near Ikoyi-Ile in Oyo State. A joint security team comprising police, Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters launched a search-and-rescue operation that forced the kidnappers to flee, and the victim was recovered unhurt and reunited with his family.

A multi-agency security operation involving the Army, Police, Navy, Air Force, DSS and other agencies rescued 44 victims on 10 July 2026, more than a month after gunmen abducted 49 pupils, teachers and a toddler from three schools in Oriire LGA, Oyo State on 15 May 2026. At least one police officer (Sgt. John Abena) was killed during the rescue operation, and other operatives sustained injuries.
