Latest reported armed robbery in Abia
5 July 2026 · Isuochi
A 22-year-old man from Obinolu Ngodo Isiochi in Abia State was arrested on July 5, 2026, by operatives of the Isuochi Divisional Police Headquarters for habitually robbing members of the public using a lighter disguised as a pistol to instil fear and dispossess victims of their belongings.
7 May 2026
Students were allegedly assaulted by police officers at a checkpoint near Abia State University, resulting in serious injuries. The incident has raised concerns about police harassment and intimidation in the area.

Two suspects were arrested in Abia State for alleged armed robbery and cultism, with firearms and a toy gun recovered from them. The police are conducting an ongoing investigation into the incidents.

Gunmen attacked a bullion van on the Umuahia axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway, killing a bank official and injuring three police officers. One of the gunmen was also killed during the exchange of gunfire.

An assistant superintendent of police caused panic at Aba Central Police Station by recklessly firing his weapon and assaulting individuals, including women and children. He was eventually disarmed by mobile police officers after attempting to grab an AK-47 rifle.

A police officer was shot dead by armed robbers during an attack on an expatriate in Umuahia, Abia State. The robbers intercepted the expatriate's vehicle and stole millions of naira.
