A viral Facebook video posted on a Thursday showed a severely malnourished young girl on Ikpa Road in Uyo, with a woman alleging the child had been starved, beaten, cut with a machete, struck with a hammer, and burned by her police officer father. The Nigerian Police confirmed the child was rescued and is receiving medical treatment, and an investigation into the alleged abuse has been launched.

Police operatives in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State foiled an armed robbery operation at Ikot Okubo Village on the night of June 27, 2026, following a distress call from a resident.
