A clash occurred between Nigerian Army troops and youths in Ikot Abasi over the arrest of a suspect linked to diesel theft, resulting in violence and vandalism. A youth leader was shot in the leg during the confrontation.

Troops apprehended a driver for allegedly siphoning diesel, leading to a violent confrontation with local youths who attempted to free the suspect. The situation escalated with the youths vandalizing vehicles and attacking company trucks.
