Vigilantes strip, assault woman in Igbor market

An 11-year-old orphan girl was severely beaten and tied to a bench in Benue State by her uncle, who accused her of stealing 1,000 Naira. Local authorities had not yet announced an investigation at the time of reporting.

A group of female students at Seat of Wisdom Secondary School in Benue State allegedly stripped and sexually harassed a fellow student, sparking outrage and calls for investigation from authorities and the public.

A Nigerian Army private was detained after allegedly assaulting a female food vendor in Kula community, Gwer West LGA, Benue State, in an altercation reportedly stemming from a dispute over an unpaid debt.

Residents of Ukwonyo community in Benue State have reported ongoing attacks and sexual assaults on women by armed invaders in their farmlands, creating a climate of fear and reducing farming activities in the area. One woman was severely injured during an attempted assault.
4 May 2024 · Makurdi
Two men were arrested in Benue State for the attempted rape and robbery of a woman at gunpoint in the North Bank area of Makurdi. The suspects were caught after the victim raised an alarm during the incident.

A man was burned to death by a mob after being accused of raping and killing his brother's wife in Achoho community, Benue State. The incident occurred following the discovery of the woman's body with signs of assault.

A suspected rapist was arrested for allegedly assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Mbakumur Peivi community, Guma LGA, Benue State. The suspect admitted to the crime during a press briefing.
8 November 2023 · Makurdi
A lecturer was beaten and stripped half-naked by a mob in Makurdi over allegations of genital theft. The police arrested two suspects following the incident.
