Reckless car racers killed one person and seriously injured another at the Imo State University junction in Owerri on Sunday evening. Eyewitnesses described the illegal racing as an increasingly regular occurrence at the busy junction.

Imo State Police, in a joint intelligence-led operation with military and vigilante personnel, foiled a suspected armed robbery at Works Layout, Owerri in the early hours of Monday, arresting one suspect and recovering a locally fabricated pistol. A second suspect escaped, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him and other alleged gang members.
