On 10 August 2026, more than 200 armed men on motorcycles launched a coordinated assault on Makuku in Sakaba LGA, Kebbi State, approaching the community from three directions beginning around 6 a.m. The attack killed 10 police officers, one vigilante, and two civilians, and injured two police officers; security forces backed by the army and air force engaged the attackers and reportedly killed at least 17 suspected bandits.
