A man accused of stealing a young woman's mobile phone in a suspected one-chance robbery inside a commercial bus in Rivers State was apprehended by youths who assaulted him before police intervened, handcuffed the suspect, and escorted him away, preventing a mob lynching.

Rivers State Police arrested four suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted woman, also recovering the gang's operational vehicle. Two suspects remain at large following the operation.

A female shop owner was abducted from her shop on Saturday by a kidnapping syndicate using a white-tinted minibus. The Rivers State Police Violent Crime Response Unit arrested four suspects and rescued the victim, while two remaining gang members remain at large.

Rivers State Police arrested four suspected kidnappers and rescued a woman who had been abducted from her shop on 11 July 2026, following an intelligence-led operation by the Violent Crime Rescue Unit. A white-tinted minibus used in the abduction was also recovered, and all four suspects confessed to their roles.

A man in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was reportedly abducted by suspected kidnappers he contacted to arrange the abduction of his brother and sister. The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N10 million for his release.

Five police officers in Rivers were dismissed for their involvement in armed robbery and kidnapping, where they allegedly abducted victims and stole large sums of money. The case has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further action.
