Severed head, body found in Maigatari village
4 August 2026 · Ringim
A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his friend in Dabigel Village, Ringim LGA, Jigawa State, after a misunderstanding escalated into violence and the suspect stabbed the victim in the chest with a sharp metal object. The victim was rushed to hospital where he was confirmed dead, and the suspect is to be transferred to the SCID in Dutse for further investigation.

A suspected motorcycle thief was beaten and burnt to death by an angry mob at the main gate of the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State, after he escaped from the hospital's emergency ward where he had been receiving treatment following an earlier assault. The suspect had been caught on the hospital premises allegedly attempting to steal motorcycles, was severely beaten, hospitalised, then tracked down again after fleeing and set on fire by the crowd.

A 60-year-old man died under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in Dutse, Jigawa State, after developing a medical emergency following a meal. Police recovered suspected sexual enhancement substances and other items from the scene and are investigating the death as unnatural, with a 20-year-old woman who was present cooperating with investigators.

A 60-year-old man was burnt to death by his 27-year-old son in Kazaure, Jigawa State. The incident occurred in the early hours of April 1, 2026, and the suspect has been arrested by the police.

An unidentified man was found dead in Dutse, Jigawa State, after police say he was electrocuted while attempting to vandalize armored electrical cables connected to a high-voltage power source at the Jigawa State Secretariat New Complex.
5 May 2025 · Gwaram
A 20-year-old man allegedly attacked his father with a machete in Gwaram LGA, Jigawa State, inflicting injuries to the shoulder, neck and chest; the victim died at the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, and the suspect has been arrested.
17 March 2025 · Hadejia
A 22-year-old bride was murdered in Warware Quarters, Hadejia, prompting the local Emirate Council to impose a curfew and establish security checkpoints to address rising insecurity.
12 February 2024 · Dutse
A woman was killed and her daughter injured in a suspected homicide case in Dutse, Jigawa state. The police discovered the deceased with visible injuries, while the daughter was found unconscious but alive.
