Suspected bandits riding motorcycles attacked Makoda town in Kano State on Thursday night, killing one person, injuring two others, and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash after opening fire indiscriminately on residents.
16 July 2026 · Tsanyawa
Bandits attacked Yankamaye Ward in Tsanyawa LGA, Kano State, engaging security forces in a fierce gun battle. The troops repelled the attack and recovered stolen livestock, but the community leader of a nearby community was killed during the raid.

Kano State Police arrested a 28-year-old suspected ammunition supplier to bandits operating in parts of the state, following credible intelligence from a resident. Arms and ammunition were recovered during the arrest.

Kano State Police arrested a suspected bandit logistics operative at Rimaye Village, Bichi LGA, following a tip-off from a community member. The suspect was found in possession of an AK-47 magazine, 109 rounds of live ammunition, two sets of military uniforms, military caps, and a fake military identity card, and confessed to intending to deliver the items to bandits operating in the bush.

A suspected arms courier was arrested in Gezawa Local Government Area, Kano State, while allegedly transporting weapons intended for criminal groups in Katsina State. The operation was conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS) and included the recovery of multiple firearms.
