Four arrested after Ibadan robbery and mob reprisal

A suspected armed robber was arrested in the Apata area of Ibadan after allegedly striking a commercial motorcyclist with an iron hammer and stealing his Bajaj Boxer motorcycle. Police operatives from the Violent Crime Response Unit recovered the stolen motorcycle and the iron hammer used in the attack; the suspect confessed to being a serial robber targeting okada riders in Ibadan.

A commercial motorcyclist was attacked with an iron hammer and robbed of his Bajaj Boxer motorcycle by a passenger along Adeniji Estate, Apata, Ibadan. Police arrested the suspect and recovered the stolen motorcycle and weapon; both the victim and a Good Samaritan who intervened sustained injuries.

Oyo State Police operatives conducting a stop-and-search operation along Oshuntokun Avenue, Bodija, Ibadan intercepted three suspects on a motorcycle. One suspect was arrested after another discarded a bag containing a locally fabricated pistol, live cartridge, and suspected Tramadol sachets; two suspects fled on the motorcycle.

The Oyo State Police Command arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a firearm and other items on the Oyo-Iwo Expressway.

A gang of armed robbers barricaded the Oyo-Iwo Expressway near Akoda village in Afijio LGA in the early hours of Sunday, attacking travellers and stealing valuables. Several motorists and passengers sustained machete injuries; police subsequently arrested two suspects and recovered a firearm and other weapons.

A 30-year-old man and accomplices broke into two shops in the Egbeda area of Ibadan in the early hours of June 28, stealing food items, soap, oil, semovita, poultry, and a wheelbarrow with a combined estimated value of N1,000,000. The suspect pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, shop breaking, and stealing at an Iyaganku Magistrates' Court.

Three suspected armed robbers were arrested in Ibadan following a police operation targeting a vehicle-snatching syndicate. The suspects confessed to their involvement in multiple thefts of exotic vehicles from residents.

The Oyo State Government demolished a residential property allegedly used for storing arms and ammunition as part of efforts to combat crime and kidnapping in the state.
