A young man was beaten to death by suspected cultists in Agege, Lagos, following a dispute over a missing phone after a birthday party.
17 June 2026 · Armed robbery
Six men were arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates' Court for allegedly stealing a mobile phone and assaulting two individuals with cutlasses and an axe at Agege Train Station, Lagos on June 17, 2026. The victims sustained bodily injuries to their heads and faces; all six defendants pleaded not guilty and were admitted to bail.

A suspected armed robber died after being rescued from a mob attack in Agege, Lagos State. The suspect had allegedly stabbed a woman and stolen her phone before being apprehended by the mob.

A suspected leader of a cult gang has been arrested in Lagos for his involvement in several killings during cult-related clashes. Police are continuing efforts to apprehend other gang members who escaped.

An Assistant Superintendent of Police was killed by commercial motorcyclists in Agege, Lagos, while responding to an accident involving an Okada rider. The police team faced resistance from the riders who attempted to set a truck on fire.

Two suspected members of a cult gang were arrested in Agege, Lagos while attempting to avenge the killing of a member by a rival gang. They were found with axes and bottles during their arrest.
16 September 2024 · Communal violence
A cult war between the Aiye and Eiye confraternities in Agege, Lagos State, resulted in one death and several injuries. The conflict was reportedly a reprisal attack by Aiye members.
15 March 2024 · Kidnapping
On March 15, gunmen abducted Segun Olatunji, the Editor of FirstNews, from his home in the Iyana Odo area of Lagos. His family has not received any communication from the abductors since the incident.
