Fire destroys residential bungalow at Itire Lagos
Suspected cultists arrived in a vehicle and fatally shot a security guard in the head before attacking him with an axe in the Abule Ijesha area of Yaba, Lagos. The attackers also fired sporadically into the crowd as they fled, leaving three girls with gunshot wounds.
Lagos State Police apprehended the alleged kingpin of a vehicle fraud syndicate linked to the fraudulent acquisition of 29 exotic vehicles worth over N1 billion from unsuspecting dealers using dud cheques and false pretences. Sixteen vehicles have been recovered so far, with vehicles valued at approximately N534 million still outstanding and efforts ongoing to arrest remaining syndicate members.
A man was arrested in Lagos after allegedly impersonating a Nigeria Customs Service officer and defrauding a victim of N520,000 by claiming he could clear goods purportedly shipped from the United States, demanding a total of N1.8 million in clearing and delivery charges. The suspect was apprehended in an ambush by detectives after the victim filed a petition with the police.
A 22-year-old suspected cultist and armed robber was arrested in Ebute Metta, Lagos, after residents reported harassment. Police recovered a locally made pistol and other items from the suspect during the operation.
