The Vice Chairman of Obelle Community Council of Chiefs was shot dead by suspected members of the Iceland cult group during a meeting in Rivers State, causing panic in the area.
2 October 2023 · Bombing
An oil explosion in Rumucholu Ibaa community, Emohua LGA, resulted in at least 18 fatalities and 25 injuries, primarily among youths engaged in illegal oil refining activities. The incident highlights ongoing issues with illegal oil bunkering in the region.
7 July 2023 · Gender-based violence
A pastor in Ndele community, Emohua LGA, Rivers State, has been arrested for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old girl. The incident came to light after the girl's family discovered her pregnancy and confronted the pastor.
